Deserts are very dry places with little water. They are often hot during the day and cold at night. Many deserts have sand, rocks, and very few plants. Some deserts, like the Sahara in Africa, are very big, while others are smaller.
What Lives in the Desert?
Even though deserts are dry, many animals and plants live there. Cacti are plants that can keep water in their thick stems. Animals like camels, snakes, and lizards live in the desert too. These animals can survive with very little water.
